This video retains its original, untouched DVD-quality video with no recompression whatsoever. The only processing performed was a simple cell for cell copy. The English audio stream (6 channel AC3) is also copied without any processing whatsoever. All other video, audio and subtitle information was ignored and is not included.

The purpose for this format is twofold:

(1) It creates a reference point for anyone who wants to convert it to another format so that they know they are starting with the virginal, untouched MPEG video and English, 6 channel (AC3) audio.

(2) With the proliferation of large hard drives, many people prefer to simply store a DVD in its highest quality state without any extraneous menus, subtitles or non-English audio streams. HQ² videos generally hover between 3 and 7 gigabytes--small in comparison to todays storage possibilities.

Look for videos with HQ² in the title for the smallest sized English DVD movies at the highest possible quality.
