Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), een journalist die tijdens
de oorlog in Irak gewond raakte, wordt door de CIA ingeuurd
om op zoek te gaan naar een terroristenleider in Jordanië.
Dit omdat deze terrorist aanslagen tegen Amerika beraamt.
Alvorens hij kan infiltreren, moet hij de steun krijgen van
twee personen; Ed Hoffman (Russel Crowe), een CIA-veteraan en
iemand van de Jordaanse inlichtingendienst. Ferris begint zich
al snel af te vragen in welke mate deze mannen te vertrouwen
zijn en hoe ver hij echt kan gaan zonder dat de operatie,
maar ook zijn leven in gevaar komt.
