En Los Sims 2: Náufragos PS2 ayudaremos a nuestros Sims a sobrevivir en una isla desierta. Después del naufragio tendremos que apañárnoslas para subsistir en la isla construyendo refugios y explorando los rincones de la misma.El funcionamiento es similar al de otros títulos de la saga. Básicamente, tendremos que atender a las necesidades de los Sims, aunque ahora serán distintas y en un nuevo entorno por explorar.
En Los Sims 2: Náufragos PS2 podremos formar un equipo para ayudarnos ante las adversidades. Cada uno de los Sims tendrá aptitudes diferentes. Además, podremos escoger entre la posibilidad de quedarnos en la isla e intentar prosperar, o luchar por escapar y regresar a la civilización.
