This is the concert Elvis performed for the live and taped-delay satellite transmission for countries around the world and to be adapted for the April 4, 1973 American television special. The January 14, 1973 concert is presented here in its absolute entirety for the first time since the initial satellite transmissions and for the very first time on a DVD or home video release.

This concert was shot with several cameras. However, there was not a tape deck dedicated to each camera. Camera choices were made during the concert and fed to only three videotape machines. One machine recorded the director’s choices for the live satellite transmission and incorporated the “montage” effect - multiple images from the concert seen on screen all at once in video blocks - a trendy approach in 1973. Two other machines captured whatever camera choices were made for those machines.

For this deluxe edition DVD set, the January 14th concert has been re-edited from scratch with re- mastered sound and picture. The producers of this set worked from the three existing choices of tape to assemble, in their opinion, the best possible presentation of the material, including the elimination of virtually all the montage screen look of the original presentation. The result is a dramatically richer, more intimate and more exciting viewing experience than found on previous DVD and home video releases of material from this show.
