Forced to spend his summer holidays with his muggle relations, Harry Potter gets a real shock when he gets a surprise visitor: Dobby the house-elf, who warns Harry Potter against returning to Hogwarts, for terrible things are going to happen. Harry decides to ignore Dobby's warning and continues with his pre-arranged schedule. But at Hogwarts, strange and terrible things are indeed happening: Harry is suddenly hearing mysterious voices from inside the walls, muggle-born students are being attacked, and a message scrawled on the wall in blood puts everyone on his/her guard - "The Chamber Of Secrets Has Been Opened. L'elfo Dobby avverte Harry Potter di non tornare a scuola perchè la sua vità è in pericolo. Anche gli zii glielo impediscono ma per altri motivi. Fortunatamente Ron Weasley viene a prendere l'amico con un'auto volante. A Hogwarts, i due ragazzi ed Hermione Granger scoprono che la Camera dei Segreti è stata aperta. La camera fu creata da Salazar Serpeverde e fu aperta per la prima volta da Tom Riddle. L'obiettivo di Serpeverde è quello di uccidere i mezzosangue. Mentre Hagrid viene ingiustamente accusato per la seconda volta di aver aperto la Camera dei Segreti, Harry trova il diaro di Tom Riddle. Attraverso il diario, il ragazzo capisce che Tom è Lord Voldemort e che probabilmente è lui ad aver aperto la Camera. Harry, Ron ed Hermione chiedono aiuto al professore di Difesa Gilderoy Allock per liberare Ginny Weasley dalle grinfie di Voldemort. I tre amici devono quindi affrontare Tom Riddle da soli.
