SINOPSIS: Phillippe Abrams (Kad Merad) es un cartero al que destinan, en contra de su voluntad, a Bergues, un pueblecito junto a la frontera con Bélgica. Phillippe piensa que va a ser un sitio horrible, cuyos habitantes, según su opinión, mascullarán una lengua ininteligible (de ahí vendría 'Ch'tis'). Cuando llega allí, descubre que es un lugar idílico, con habitantes encantadores. De todas formas, a su mujer, de la que está distanciado, y que vive en su localidad de origen, le asegura que vive en un auténtico infierno, con el fin de despertar su compasión. Lo consigue hasta el día en que ella anuncia que va a acudir a visitarle. A Abrams no le queda más remedio que pedirles a sus nuevos amigos y vecinos que interpreten la farsa que le ha contado a su mujer, y que se comporten de forma tosca...
