SINOPSIS: Casey Bell (Odette Yustman) siempre ha odiado a su madre por abandonarla cuando era niña. Empiezan a pasar cosas inexplicables y Casey entiende por qué se fue. Con constantes sueños despiadados y un fantasma torturado que la persigue durante el día, no le queda más remedio que recurrir a Sendak (Gary Oldman), el único asesor espiritual que puede detener la pesadilla. Con la ayuda de Sendak, acaba por descubrir una maldición familiar que remonta a la Alemania nazi. Se trata de una criatura capaz de apoderarse del cuerpo de una persona o de un animal y que cobra fuerza con cada posesión. Ante la poderosa maldición, sólo le queda cerrar la puerta que da al más allá, abierta tiempo atrás por un no nato.
