We enter dark waters tonight when a prostitute arrives at the police station claiming
she's been raped and attacked by a "customer". Naturally Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister)
and his male colleagues are, to put it politely, very sceptical, so it's up to DI Alex Drake
(Keeley Hawes) to be more understanding, what with her 21st-century sensibilities.

But everyone soon sits up when Gene notes links with the rape and murder of a young
girl some months before. It's an odd episode that takes its eye off the ball a few times
- for instance, the flashbacks to Alex's past get in the way of a difficult and frequently
unpleasant story. But it's notable for a very sexy "will-they-or-won't-they?" scene
between Gene and Alex. Presumably there will be more of those in the coming weeks.
