Plot summary:
Christian é um jovem inglês sonhador que chega a Paris no ano de 1899 com o desejo de se tornar um escritor. É a virada do século e a cidade vive uma revolução artística riquíssima em qualidade. Logo ele vê-se escrevendo uma peça denominada de "Espetacular Espetacular". Acaba também conhecendo Satine, uma cortesã por quem acaba se apaixonando. Mas para financiar a peça surge um duque, que em troca de dinheiro acaba exigindo "exclusividade" sobre Satine.
