The Cruel Sea were an Australian indie rock band from Syndey formed in 1988. The band fronted by the prolific
vocalist Tex Perkins (also a member of The Beasts of Bourbon and a solo artist) in addition to Jim Elliot
(drums), Dan Tumour (guitar) and Ken Gormly (from 1991 onwards); and Barry Turnball on bass.
The Honeymoon Is Over was just the beginning interms of the Australian public's fasination with all-things
Cruel Sea when album was released. It's been observed before, but Tex Perkins draws from the prototype of
the rock lead singer. Earthy and sexy, he swaggers throughout this album. The band goes it alone with the
opening tune-the instumental Orleans Stomp-while the rocking title track makes for perfect car stereo music,
top down in the fast lane. Filthy, wonderful rock and roll stew.
